Roulette Myths

While Roulette is one of the easiest games in the casino to play, it is one the hardest to win at. However, many strategies have been created and developed in order to beat the wheel; and among the other gambling games, Roulette caught most of the attention. The myths about a perfect system are just that—myths.

No matter how great these systems seem, they are not guaranteed to work all the time. There is no foolproof mechanical system that has ever made a gambler win all his or her bets all the time. For the most part, systems should be used to simply formulate a way to play the game and not counted on to produce dreamlike riches.

While system makers will tout their systems as fool-proof ways to make money hourly at the Roulette table, pro gamblers know differently. These systems are based on uncertain or chronological probability, and Roulette is not a game based on probability. It is a game of chance. Systems based on passed performances do not work.

Each spin of the wheel is a new opportunity; a new game that has no predictable result. This principle also applies on online Roulette. The probability of winning cannot be determined based on the previous spins of the Roulette wheel. Online Roulette uses a computer to randomly choose numbers so it is much less likely to show “patterns” than a real life Roulette table.

On popular myth or fallacy that Roulette gambler follow is outcome prediction. They believe that because a certain bet has not come up in X spins, that is must be due to come out. While over millions of spins, the probabilities will work themselves out, there is no reason or guarantee that they will during one playing session.

Casinos have a house advantage of 5.26 percent for the American Roulette and 2.7 percent for its European counterpart, so it is a general assumption that players are definitely losers in the game of Roulette. However, players think differently. They believe that Roulette is a game of chance, and that chance is their ticket to win.

In reality, the probability of winning, or even having the chance to win, is pretty low compared to other games. However, people still flock to the Roulette table, because it’s a fun game filled with opportunity. Those that play Roulette in the real world have an advantage over those playing online. While the game is random, in the real world, dealers do develop patterns of spinning the marble and wheels, physically, can have a bias towards sections. In online play, this is never an option as the game is solely computer based using a RNG (random number generator).
